MORE than 140 general knowledge whizzes sprang into action at the Mad March Hare quiz which saw them raise almost £1,000 by pitting their wits against each other.

Twenty three teams of hare-brained fundraisers hopped over to the quiz at Swindon Town Football Club to kick-start fundraising activities for the 2016 event.

The ninth Mad March Hare run will take place on Sunday, March 20, 2016 starting and finishing at Lydiard Park Academy. The 5km or 10km walk/jog/run is in aid of Breast Cancer Now and has raised more than £87,000 since it first began, with the 2015 event notching up £9,000.

Kathy Doyle said: “The fun quiz was lively and friendly and the 147 quizzers also enjoyed a tasty ploughman’s supper, which was rounded off with delicious homemade cakes.

The evening was a great success and raised an outstanding total of £955.53. Congratulations to the winning team – 'Knobs and Knockers'.

“The 2015 Mad March Hare raised a fantastic £9,000 for the Wiltshire Breast Cancer Now group and a cheque was presented to their treasurer, Clare Rich, at the quiz, by members of the organising team. This takes the amount raised since Mad March Hare began to over £87,000.”
