VOLUNTEERS who would like to offer a little Christmas cheer to those less fortunate are invited to a meeting tonight.

Christmas Care Shelter will return for its 26th year this year, and organisers are calling on as many volunteers as possible to help them by attending the meeting at Queen’s Drive Methodist Church from 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 18.

Christmas Care chairman Patsy Moloney said: “We open the shelter on Christmas Eve until December 28 and it is open 24 hours a day.

“When our guests come in on Christmas Eve they can shower, have a complete change of clothing and footwear.

"Our guests are welcome to breakfast from 8am until 9.30am, lunch each day from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and a buffet in the evening.

"At no time in the 24 hours over the four days are our guests refused a hot drink or food.

“Last year we had 70 people come in and we need volunteers to come and help us keep the shelter open throughout this time.

"It is very important that we have enough volunteers to do this.”
