LOCAL Muslim leaders have written to the French Embassy to pay their condolences for the lives lost in last week’s Paris terrorist attacks.

A letter signed by the Swindon Muslim Council, which represents the three Mosques, have also denounced the actions carried out the atrocities.

Last week, 130 people were killed in the French capital leading when gunmen and suicide bombers attacked a music hall, restaurants and the Stade de France.

The terrorists who carried out the attack were acting on behalf of the so-called Islamic State but Muslims across the have angrily denounced the actions.

The Swindon Muslim Council has written the letter to show they stand by France during difficult times and to add their voice to the chorus condemning the actions.

Part of the letter reads: “We the joint council representing the entire Muslim community of Wiltshire, UK would like to convey our sincere condolences for the loss of innocent lives in the Paris terror attacks of last Friday.

“Our thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones and those injured, we wish them fast and full recovery.”

The letter goes on to strongly criticise the terrorists and says they do not represent the true faith of Islam.

“At times like this we have to remember that solidarity is critical for the future of mankind,” it reads.

“There is no room for terrorists in any religion especially Islam, the act of these so called Islamic fighters is totally detrimental to the very religion they claim to represent.

“Like all faiths, Islam totally condemns the taking the taking of one’s own life, hence the suicide bombers violate this as well as the fact that Islam totally forbids the killing of innocent civilians, women, children, elderly and cause any damage to their property or stock.

“Hence the foundation of these organisations is far from the mainstream of faith of Islam.”

The local faith leaders said they were as shocked as anyone when they saw Friday’s atrocities unfold.

Azim Khan said: “What we saw last week was shocking and we want to show the people of France we stand with them. We are all human beings.

“What we saw does not represent Islam in any way whatsoever.”

Enam Chowdhury: “Now is a time we must show unity and it is important for everyone to stand together.”
