A YOUNG inventor is steaming ahead with plans to take her mini kettle creation to America after winning a national Pot Noodle competition.

Former New College Swindon student Bianca Polizzi, 21, saw her portable ‘Kettle Kup’ invention take the top spot in a hotly-contested battle for retweets on Twitter.

Bianca, of Westmorland Road, netted 160 more retweets than her nearest competitor to win a trip to Las Vegas, USA, where she will present a working prototype of her time-saving device during a major technology fair.

The second-year languages student at the University of Bath has already been thrust into the limelight, shooting a 60-second commercial in London on Friday last week alongside actress Keddy Sutton, who is part of the comedy duo Caz ‘n’ Britney.

“Everything is happening so fast – it’s crazy to see what an adventure a single tweet can take you on,” said Bianca.

“I only entered the competition about three weeks ago and I’ve already appeared in newspapers and online publications all over the world.

“I had so much fun shooting the TV commercial with Keddy Sutton, and in early January I will be jetting off to Las Vegas to show the Kettle Kup prototype to investors.”

If the rechargeable mini kettle gets the nod for production, the plan is to make it available worldwide. Bianca, supported by a team representing Pot Noodle, will be presenting the device at the same time that the prestigious CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is being hosted in Last Vegas.

She said: “The Kettle Kup is an on-the-go kind of gadget, which means it’s going to be wireless. Charge it up and take it to festivals or long days on campus, or travelling. It’ll have a rechargeable battery that can also be connected to a USB charger, so you can just connect it up to your laptop on the go if you run out of power to charge it up, like you would a phone.

“Hit the switch and let it boil – then it’s countless coffees or never-ending noodles; anything you want to add to the water and drink or eat straight from the Kettle Kup.

“This multi-tasking kettle and cup is especially one for the students who eat out of saucepans to save time on washing up.”
