THE hunt is on for the true owner of a ginger tom that has been living the high-life alongside a group of men in orange uniforms.

The furry feline found a friend in staff working at the B&Q warehouse off Highworth Road, where for the last month he has been fed by two teams of workers on opposite shifts who have taken it in turns to take care of him after he wandered into their yard looking a little sorry for himself.

Worried that a family somewhere was missing a cat, the kind-hearted warehouse workers have called on Cats Protection volunteer Josie McNally to help them find the cat’s real owners and she is now busy spreading the word.

She said: “When I first heard that there was this ginger cat at B&Q I thought it might be one that a lady living Stanton Fitzwarren had lost, but it turns out it is not the same cat.

“When she went to check this little guy was looking really quite sheepish and it was there she discovered that they had been feeding him for a month. He was really quite thin, so these guys had been feeding him three pouches at a time to build him up.

“They said he would just wander off and keep coming back so they thought he belonged to one of the houses along Kingsdown, but we really don’t know.

“The guys were quite happy to keep taking it in turns to look after him, there were about ten of them in total that would look after him they had even made him a shelter with blankets out behind the big warehouse to help keep him warm.”

The warehouse workers managed to coerce the cat into a carry case so that Josie could come and collect him, and she has now been busy making a number of found posters featuring a picture of the cat which she has been circulating around the area in the hope that someone will recognise the cat.

“He has been neutered, but he is not microchipped,” she said. “He is currently with a foster carer and has been checked over at the vets.

“I really is so lovely that these guys have taken such good care of him, he is one very lucky little cat.”
