TWO women crossing a road were hurt in a suspected hit and run last night.

Now police are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

The mother and daughter were hit by a silver Peugeot 207 at around 6.30pm on Saturday night when they were crossing William Street in Calne outside the One Stop shop.

A spokesman for Clane Neighbourhood Police Team said: “The driver of the Peugeot collided with one of the ladies, causing them both to fall to the ground. Both suffered injuries, including abrasions to the rear of the head.

“The driver of the Peugeot failed to stop at the scene and drove off at speed, turning left from William Street into Hungerford Road.

“So far this evening, the driver has failed to make contact with Police.

“The driver was described as a white male 35/40 yrs with grey hair.
