A BRACE from Andy Sandell secured a comfortable 4-1 win for Chippenham Town at home to Dunstable Town.

Having gone five games in the Southern League Premier Division without winning, the Bluebirds were able to record their third success on the bounce in fine style at Hardenhuish Park.

The win lifted Chippenham back up to fourth place in the table, but like he didn’t get too low when Town went on their run of bad form, equally Collier is not getting too excited about the current run.

“We’re slowly building and that is three wins on the spin, which is particularly pleasing,” he added.

“We’ve looked strong at the back and we have made three or four changes as well so that bodes well.

“At this moment in time we are in a good place.

“We know we weren’t playing well a month ago but we managed to hang in there and I think we are up to fourth now which is good.

“Dunstable are one of the in-form teams and we have put them to the sword. We can only take confidence from that.”

The first goal for the hosts, who were playing up the Hardenhuish slope, came from the penalty spot when Matt Jones’ cross was blocked by an arm in the box and Andy Sandell converted from 12 yards.

Chippenham doubled their advantage just before the break when James Guthrie put Alex Ferguson through to slot home.

The hosts started the second half in good fashion and created several chances before Guthrie finished off a fine team goal to find the top corner with his right foot.

Dunstable were given a route back into the game when the ball spun off Greg Tindle to beat Kent Kauppinen before Sandell put the game beyond doubt in the 85th minute.

“It is a very good win for us,” said Collier.

“We started the game well and were 2-0 up at half time.

“Some of our football was very good as well on what was a difficult day for football – both under foot and overhead.

“We looked very competitive and strong at the back.

“Unusually for us, we were kicking down the slope in the first half but we were on the front foot quite early and always looked a threat.

“We had good possession of the ball and they gave us respect in the formation they played, with only one up front.

“That gave us plenty of chance to play from the back, which we did, and we were quite patient and took our chances.”
