A COOKER fire at a house in Old Town prompted an emergency response from two fire crews from Swindon Fire Station on Friday night.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Control said that the two crews had been called to a house on Bath Road at 6.18pm on Friday after a fire involving a cooker.
Firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a covering jet to deal with the fire.
They also directed traffic along Bath Road while they attended the incident.
Later that evening one crew from Swindon Fire Station also attended a house on Alton Close in Stratton to find an alarm detector head had been removed.
The spokesman added: "Smoke alarms save lives."
