Network Rail have released a timelapse video showing the work which was carried out on the Stratton Green Bridge over Christmas.
While traffic has not been able to use the bridge since November, the main replacement was carried out by an army of workers over Christmas and Boxing Day.
Work is now progressing on the rest of the road before it re-opens next month.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “Following the successful replacement of the bridge over Christmas, we are now carrying out work to tie the new bridge into the existing road. This involves drainage, waterproofing and tarmacking work, and the installation vehicle barriers to ensure the safety of drivers.
“We remain on course to reopen the bridge by the end of February, when passengers and lineside neighbours in Swindon will be a step closer to the benefits that electrification and the new faster, longer, quieter and greener electric trains will bring.”
