A CHEQUE for £6,250 was a welcome boost for Prospect Hospice yesterday. Fri

Staff at Swindon's Wilson Tool raise money every year for different charities and this year they chose the Hospice as their chosen recipients.

Employees Craig Martin and Trevor Davies handed over the cheque on Friday, proud in the knowledge that the amount was the highest the company has raised so far for any charity.

The Hospice was a favourite choice this year due some personal connections with some of Wilson Tool's staff.

"One of our employees, Tony Hooper sadly passed away last year and was closely looked after by the charity, giving staff members at the company a good reason to strive on and raise money to the charity and all its hard work," said Helen Armitage from Wilson Tools which is based at South Marsden.

The money was raised through various events such as Christmas raffles, pool car hire, wage donations and a bike ride from Newcastle to London which raised a whopping six hundred and thirty five pounds to swell the coffers.

"The money raised every year for charities is a great achievement," said Helen.

"But this year it has been particularly fantastic."

The company is still undecided as to which charity they will be raising money for next.
