A GROUP of parents and helpers have decided to get their walking boots on to help the1st Dorcan Scout Group by organising a 26 mile night walk starting on Saturday, February 6.

The walk which is being held to raise money for new tents and equipment for the scouts is likely to take around 12 hours overnight.

James Deazin, scout leader said “We have done other fundraisers, but this is the biggest one we have done so far, the kids are always raising money through bag packing so this is the adults turn”.

James said if they hit their target then the money raised should “buy new tents and equipment which will just get the kids a bit out and about more.”

Charlotte Arnold, an 18-year-old assistant scout leader from 1st Dorcan scouts said that they chose to do a night walk because “it’s an easy way to get all adults involved in fundraising.”

The walk will start at 6pm on Saturday February 6 beginning at Coate water park and ending at Potterne Wick, Devizes. The group charity walk has been organised by Dean Arnold and James Deazin.

The organisation is looking to raise around £2000 for the new equipment. If you’d like to donate money towards the sponsored walk then please go to https://www.givey.com/1stdorcanscouts.
