A CHARITY tribute night will be held this weekend to celebrate the life of Sean Popowicz.

The night of music will feature a host of local DJ talent and be held at the Swindon MECA from 9pm tomorrow night.

DJs Luke Pinot, Stuart Bush, Scott Sutton, Jamie Chapman and Kevin Hopkins are on the setlist for the evening.

More than 200 people are expected to attend to pay tribute to Sean, affectionately known as Pops. All proceeds from the night will go to a community project that Sean supported.

The 35-year-old passed away peacefully on July 11, leaving behind parents John and Jenny, siblings Liam, Katie and Sinead, along with 10 cousins, a parade of godchildren, and his adored niece – three-year-old Erin.

More than 500 people attended his funeral at Holyrood with the coffin painted to resemble his favourite tie-dye t-shirt.

Sean who attended St Joseph’s Catholic College, where he was fondly remembered for his rugby days, touched the lives of hundreds around Swindon

He was described as a “legend” by hundreds of friends and his handful of godchildren.

A post on the Facebook event page said:

“Whether you knew him as Sean, Pops, Big Sean or simply the guy who loved a party, we're hosting a charity based tribute night in the memory of him.

“In true Pops style we've pulled together a collection of DJ's for the night so we can all have a wiggle and a great night.

“All ticket money raised from the event will be going towards a local project that Sean was interested in for years, it will benefit the Swindon community whilst standing as a great memorial for Sean himself.”

Tickets are available for £5 in advance or £8 on the door. Visit mecaswindon.co.uk/events-tickets/2016/february/sean-popowicz-charity-tribute-night/ to book.
