GUPPFEST will is set to celebrate the life of Swindon musician Mark Guppy, who died suddenly in 2009 just a month before his partner gave birth to their second child.

The event will take place at the Constitutional Club in Chippenham on February 27 with a bumper line-up and all proceeds will go to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Guppfest began the year after Mr Guppy’s death when his family and friends decided that the most fitting way to commemorate the talented drummer’s life would be with a memorial concert.

The success of the concert prompted the organisers to turn it into an annual festival.

Mr Guppy's brother, Jason, who is organising the event, said: “We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which we think is a brilliant cause.

“This is the fifth Guppfest and each one has been excellent so we’re looking forward to this year’s event very much.

“We’re hoping to see a good turnout on the day. It’s for a great cause and a brilliant opportunity to discover some new bands.”

Among the acts playing at the 12 hour event are Reloaded, a funk band from Calne; Jack Moore, an acoustic guitarist from Chippenham and Sleepwalkers, who perform unique covers of well-known songs.

This is the first time the event is being held at the Constitutional Club and tickets cost £5.
