A CONSULTATION will start in the coming weeks on how best to introduce car parking charges at Lydiard House and Park over the summer.
The money raised will be used to pay for the extra costs incurred as a result of extending the lease process.
A charge will also be introduced at Coate Water with the cash collected being invested in the park.
Council chiefs have decided to move forward with the plans after talking with members of the public about the lease process.
Coun Garry Perkins (Con, Haydon Wick) said: “When we were talking with people one of the things they seemed to understand was we needed to raise money and parking charges was something they were more receptive to.”
The charges are expected to be introduced in June.
