A MAN awaiting trial on a charge of rape and assault has been remanded in custody as he could no longer stay at an address where he was under curfew.

Liam Callcut, who is currently homeless, had been bailed to live and sleep at his parent’s address, where he was under a curfew that only allowed him outside between the hours of noon and 1pm each day.

But after a number of comments were made on Facebook about the trial the 18-year-old’s parents said they could no longer accommodate him.

Callcutt came before the court having alerted the police to the situation, fearing that he would breach his bail.

His defence, Rob Ross told the court they were in the process of securing accommodation for him outside of the exclusion zone imposed by the crown court, and pointed out that Calcutt had not been arrested for breaching his bail, but as a precaution as he could no longer comply with the bail conditions.

While accommodation is sorted out for him he was remanded in custody.

He is due to stand trial at Swindon Crown Court on August 1.
