FEARING he had been spotted by police, a man tried to hide near a railway bridge in Royal Wootton Bassett last night.
But when officers caught up with him he provided a positive breath sample at more than three times over the drink drive limit.
A spokesman for Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Police said: “The 40 year old driver of this car was observed driving erratically by local PCSOs he tried to avoid being spotted trying to hide near the Marlborough Road Railway Bridge.
“The male was arrested by our Swindon Response Colleagues after providing a roadside breath sample of 125 [the legal limit is 35mcg in 100ml of breath].
"We are also seizing his car as it is uninsured.
“Anyone wishing to report an incident of drink/drug driving should call police on 101 and select option 4 for the drink drive hotline. In an emergency, dial 999.”
