YOUNGSTERS were striking the right chord again yesterday as they took part in the fourth day of the 107th annual Swindon Music Festival.

Classes were held at the Arts Centre and included Woodwind Solo, Grade 1-8 as well as Strings Beginners and up to Grade 8.

Modern Popular Piano Solo -11 years and under, Piano Sonatina -11 years and under, Piano Duet 16 and under, Piano Trio -16 and under and Instrumental Recital -17 and over and Piano Jazz- 17 and over all competed for the Swindon Recital Series Senior Trophy during the morning.

The afternoon continued with Piano Solo-17 and over, Mature Piano (over 50) Piano Sol: 20th Century, Piano Sonata Solo - 17 and over and Piano Baroque Solo -17 and over competed in the afternoon for The Bach Cup.

Adjudicator Kay Tucker described the start of the Festival on Friday as: “An excellent evening to start this year’s Festival with some outstanding performances borne out by the marks awarded.”

And she said it had been a privilege and a joy to hear such well prepared and committed performances.

She congratulated all who performed and the organisers of the Swindon Music Festival.
