HANNAH Roberts tried a lot of hobbies before she took up acting two years ago. Now she has her first film role in the can.

The 13-year-old from Liden, has been on set with stars Ronan Keating and John Hannah (CHECK) for Another Mother’s Son.

Currently in production, the movie is the true story of a woman who hid an escaped Russian prisoner of war during the German occupation of Jersey during the Second World War.

But much of the shooting has been done around the Westcounty, including Bath and Hannah found herself working as an extra for scenes shot in Wells, Somerset earlier this year.

“I really enjoyed it,” she said. “It was very interesting.”

The youngster only joined Swindon Stagecoach two years ago having given other pastimes like swimming the push. “I’ve gone through a lot of hobbies I didn’t really enjoy,” she explained.

But she discovered a knack for acting and has stuck with it ever since, taking part in shows and even doing exams.

It was through the organisation that she was picked to play a young girl in the film.

“She was lucky enough to share the set with both John Hannah and Ronan Keating, much to her mother’s delight,” said proud dad Andy.

The youngster wore genuine wartime clothes which had to be returned to a museum after shooting was finished.

“She thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the experience and is determined to gain more roles as soon as possible,” added Andy.

Hannah recently reached the finals of the agency’s national Time to Shine competition with a Cruella De Vil performance she devised herself.

She was also part of the troup that performed at Disneyland Paris as part of the Disney Performing Arts programme.

Her next performance is at the Stagecoach Charity Gala at the Wyvern Theatre on July 16. Proceeds will be going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund and the Swindon Community Radio. Tickets are on sale now at £14.50 from box office.

Another Mother’s Son, which is due for release later this year, stars Jenny Seagrove as Louisa Gould, the woman who hid the POW. It also features Emmy award winner Susan Hampshire.
