A MAN who assaulted a woman three times faces a court bill of more than £400.

Wayne Sealey, 41, of Kembrey Street, pleaded guilty to three charges of assault dating from March 4, March 2 and February 19 when he appeared before Swindon magistrates.

He was fined a total of £290 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £29. There was no request made for a restraining order.

Facing a charge of harassment a man has found himself not only having a restraining order against the victim but must also carry out unpaid work.

Tyron Barbieri, 27, of Penhill Drive, pleaded guilty to harassing a woman between August 1, 2015, and November 15, 2015.

The court heard he made numerous unwanted phone calls, sent text messages and emails to her.

The magistrates sentenced him to a community order for 12 months.

He must also complete 100 hours of unpaid work while he was also banned from having any contact with the woman. He must also pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60.

A man found himself behind bars for ten weeks after he breached a restraining order which activated his suspended sentence.

Lewis George, 23, of Acacia Grove, had contact with a woman he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order between February 26 and March 21.

After hearing that this was the second breach of the restraining order the magistrates activated his suspended sentence of eight weeks - which had previously been suspended for 12 months when it was imposed of January of this year.

They added a further two weeks to his sentence for the latest breach which was ordered to be served consecutively. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80.

Marek Nowicki pleaded guilty to being over the limit when he was stopped on Manchester Road in his blue Vauxhall by police on March 4.

The court heard the 39-year-old, of Nelson Street, had 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

After being caught driving his car when he was more than double the drink-drive limit a man has been banned from the roads for 20 months.

Goncalo Freirinha, of Albion Street, pleaded guilty to the offence when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

The court heard that the 33-year-old had driven his VW Golf in Wellington Street after drinking so much that he had 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath when he was stopped by police on February 24.

The magistrates fined him £300 for the offence, ordering also that he pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30. The magistrates took his guilty plea into account when imposing their sentence.

A driver caught speeding in his Mercedes on the M4 at Swindon was fined £500 by Swindon magistrates. Mathew Nebu, of Trinity Close, Northwood, pleaded guilty to exceeding the 70mph limit between junctions 16 and 17 on December 29.

He was ordered to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Six penalty points were also added to his licence.

A teenager has been ordered to pay compensation to Tesco after he aided a theft of electrical items from the store.

The 17-year-old - who cannot be identified due to a court order - pleaded guilty to the offence dating from January 6 of this year when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

He was sentenced to a youth rehabilitation order and ordered to pay £50 compensation to Tesco.

A scooter rider has been fined more than £500 for driving without due care and attention on Thamesdown Drive.

Adam Hawkins, 23, of Limes Avenue, changed his plea to guilty when he came before magistrates in Swindon.

The court heard he had ridden his Gilera Runner 125 Scooter on Thamesdown Drive on July 10 of last year without due care and attention. He had previously denied the charge.

Magistrates ordered he pay a fine of £500 and imposed a victim surcharge of £50 along with court costs of £85. His licence was also endorsed with seven penalty points.

A man with outstanding debts to the court has been ordered to repay the sum of £120 at a rate of £5 per week.

Alan Beattie, of Marlowe Road, appeared in court after a warrant was issued for his arrest for the outstanding fine which had been imposed by the crown court in December 2014. The sum had been imposed alongside a prison sentence, and 46-year-old Beattie said he had simply forgotten about the financial penalty.

Magistrates ordered that £5 a week be deducted from his benefits.

A man will stand trial on charges of assaulting a shop worker when he tried to make off with five bottles of washing liquid.

Bryan Chubb pleaded guilty to stealing the Persil valued at £24.95 from the Co-op on Beechcroft Road on Friday, April 15, but denied assaulting a shop assistant who tried to stop him.

The 34-year-old Imber Walk resident will now stand trial for the matter at Chippenham Magistrates' Court on July 6. Swindon magistrates also decided to adjourn sentencing for the matter of theft to be dealt with on the same day.
