HUNDREDS of yellow rubber ducks will be bobbing down the river in Wroughton as part of the annual duck race on Monday.
It is the 19th year the event has taken place and thousands are expected to join in with the fun at Willow Brook Gardens.
There will be four races starting at 2pm, with the first being the children’s race which costs £1 a duck. This will be followed by the business challenge, where local organisations have been invited to decorate a large decoy duck, and then two more races for adults in memory of farmer and former parish councillor Mike Hinder.
Paul Hurst, one of the organisers, said: “It’s by the community for the community. Last year we must have had 1,500 to 2,000 people attend, it was a really good day.
“It’s usually well attended and obviously it depends on the weather. The atmosphere is great and we get a lot of young families bring their children along to get involved.
“It is also something that we do to raise money for local kids’ groups. Last year we gave £1,500.”
From 1pm there will also be a number of stalls selling a variety of items, tea and coffee, ice cream and a hogroast. The Ellendune Centre will also play host to some entertainment.
