A MAN will stand trial in Swindon Crown Court facing a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Cameron McLeish, 43, of Courtney Road, Walcot, came before magistrates sitting in Swindon on Wednesday facing the charge dating from Tuesday, April 26.

It is alleged that McLeish unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to another man with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. He entered no pleas.

Magistrates adjourned the case to be heard in the crown court, where McLeish will next appear on May 27. In the meantime he was released on conditional bail to live and sleep at the address he provided in court – which is a family member’s - and not to go to Moredon Park or have any contact with the alleged victim or any witnesses.

He was granted one visit to collect his belongings from his home address accompanied by a police officer.

A man has been fined after being found drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Stephen Wilder, of Longthorpe Close, Toothill, pleaded guilty to the charge of being found drunk and disorderly in John Street when he came before Swindon magistrates.

The 30-year-old also pleaded guilty to missing his day in court on February 17.

The magistrates fined him £50 for the offence of drunk and disorderly behaviour and also imposed a £20 victim surcharge, but they made no order for prosecution costs due to the defendant's means.

They ordered that the fine be consolidated with his existing court fines.

A man has been fitted with an electronic tag after he admitted harassing a woman.

Matthew Clifford, of Cornmarsh Way, pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct that amounted to harassment between February 14 and March 8 of this year against a woman.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to texting and calling the woman a number of times as well as attending her home address twice.

The magistrates imposed an electronically monitored curfew for 28 days. He must remain indoors at his home address between 8pm and 6am.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and Crown Prosecution Service Costs of £85.

A man has been fined for attacking a woman - despite her not supporting his prosecution.

Gareth Woodward, of Meadowcroft, pleaded guilty to one charge of assaulting a woman dating from March 11.

The magistrates fined the 42-year-old £100 and ordered he pay Crown prosecution Service costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20

But they made no award for costs as the injured party did not support the proceedings and expected to be reconciled with him.

A driver caught over the drug-drive limit has been banned from the roads after police caught him in possession of cannabis.

Filipi Monteiro was caught driving a Chevrolet Kalos In Bassett Down on February 6 by police who pulled him over.

Officers found he had an amount of cannabis on his person and carried out a drugs test on him which showed he had 2.8mgs of cannabis in his blood.

The legal limit is 2mgs and is in place the legal limit was in place to take into account the possibility that someone could become exposed to cannabis accidentally and inhale the illegal drug quite by accident through passive smoking.

When Monteiro, 22, of Gosse Court, appeared before Swindon magistrates he pleaded guilty to both of these offences, as well as driving without a licence, having no insurance, and obstructing a police officer from carrying out their duty.

He was fined a total of £360 and ordered to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 along with a £20 victim surcharge.

He was also disqualified from holding a licence for 12 months.

A teenager who was found in a public place with a lock knife has been sentenced to a youth rehabilitation order.

The 17-year-old - who cannot be identified due to a court order - pleaded guilty to the offence in Cypress Grove dating from June 6 last year when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

As part of the order the defendant must complete 12 activity days as specified by the probation service, including taking part in the weapons group under the supervision of the Youth Offending Team for one day.

He must also pay a victim surcharge of £15 and the magistrates ordered that the knife be forfeited and destroyed.

A 16-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to a charge of beating another boy.

The teenager - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - admitted the offence which took place at the Dorcan Recreation Centre on September 14 of last year when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

He was ordered to complete a youth rehabilitation order and complete 40 hours of unpaid work within the next year.

Magistrates barred a Swindon man from going to Eastleigh Road in Devizes after he admitted harassing a woman by email.

Christopher Forbes, 33, of Firefly Avenue, was also banned from contacting Katherine Baker, told to do 150 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge with £85 prosecution costs at the hearing before the Swindon bench on April 4.

Swindon magistrates handed a six-month conditional discharge to a man who was found guilty of an assault at the Tesco Express store in Redhouse Way.

Jamiu Balogun, 38, of Colchester Close, Toothill, had denied assaulting Szymon Blaczczuk by beating him.

He was ordered to pay £250 costs and a victim surcharge of £15 at the hearing on April 4.
