BIKER Dai Jones recently gave up his time for a random act of kindness as part of a project to give back to local communities around the UK.

To celebrate the beginning of the bike season, motorcycle insurance broker Carole Nash, teamed up with several generous bikers across the UK to launch its first ever Hero Day.

On Hero Day, people in need of a helping hand were encouraged to tweet to the Carole Nash @insidebikes Twitter account using a designated hashtag #Ineedabikerhero, and Dia Jones from Redhouse heard the clarion call and lept into action.

Dai delivered flowers and chocolates to a busy Liden mum after her husband contacted the company saying he wanted to give her a special treat.

And as a thank you to Dai, the Carole Nash insurance company covered his fuel costs and donated £50 to the charity of his choice.

Dai said: “I think that the Carole Nash Hero Day is a great idea and I’m proud to have been a part of it, especially as I got to ride my bike and help people at the same time.”

Rebecca Donohue, head of marketing at Carole Nash, said: “We are so happy with the success of Hero Day. Dai was a true Biker Hero for the people of Swindon.

“The biking community is one of the friendliest, warmest and most welcoming groups to be a part of, and our Biker Hero Day really helped us demonstrate this.”

Since Dai was not able to help everyone, Carole Nash also sent out random acts of kindness gifts to lucky people who tweeted @insidebikes on April 15.

On the day Carole Nash also encouraged whole communities to do what they could on the day to help others.

The acts of kindness ranged from helping an elderly neighbour do their shopping, buying a treat for friends having a hard time or merely donating items to charity.
