TICKETS are on sale today for rock band Kasabian’s return to Swindon, as part of their mini May tour.

Kasabian, who are currently tucked away in the studio working on their sixth album, will be appearing at the Oasis in North Star on Thursday, May 26.

Coincidentally, Sergio Pizzorno, guitarist and songwriter with Kasabian, was hugely influenced by Noel Gallagher from the rock giants Oasis.

Sergio said: “When I was 14 Brit Pop was the centre of the world and Noel was my music hero initially. He inspired me more than any teacher or historical figure.’’ One of the early highlights for Sergio was Noel jumping on stage to play with his band, when they performed at the Edinburgh Hogmanay street party in 2007.

Kasabian wowed the Swindon crowed when they came to the Radio One Big Weekend in 2009 and again later that year at the Oasis Centre.

Kasabian are huge football fans, supporting Leicester City so the finale of their May mini tour will be at the musicians' home town of Leicester, at the King Power Stadium.

They will celebrate Leicester City FC’s team being crowned Premier League champions for the first time in their 100 year history.

Sergio said: “This has been an unbelievable year for the city and it seemed like the perfect thing to do this summer. We cannot wait to throw the city the greatest party they have ever seen.’’ Their hit single Fire was used as the theme song for the English Premier League from the 2010 to 2011 season.

The current line-up of the band are Sergio, lead singer Tom Meighan, Chris Edwards on bass and Ian Matthews on drums. Ian was in Swindon back in March when he played drums for the Denny Illett Trio at a jazz night in Baker Street, Old Town.

Kasabian have five albums under their belt, four shot to number one in the album charts, and they have notched up hit singles with songs such as Club Foot, Empire, Days Are Forgotten, Eez-eh, Processed Beats, LSP and Shoot The Runner.

The band have a huge fan base all over the world, which includes a fair number of celebrities such as Noel Fielding form The Might Boosh. Noel appeared in the promotional video with the band for Vlad The Impaler.

A mix of old favourites and new songs will fill the Oasis with doors opening at 7.30pm. Tickets are £39.50, £2.50 booking fee from https://oasis.cloudvenue.co.uk/kasabian
