FOUR Second World War medals passed down as family heirlooms have been stolen from a house in broad daylight.

Cash, laptops and jewellery were also taken in the burglary at Casterbidge Road, Taw Hill on Wednesday after the patio doors were smashed open sometime between 10.30am and 2pm.

The thieves hid the items in a pillowcase and then fled.

It follows a number of other daytime burglaries that have taken place recently in Redhouse, Oakhurst and Haydon Wick.

A Rolex Datejust was stolen from a house in Headlanes Grove on Wednesday, April 27 sometime between 1pm and 4.30pm.

North Swindon Police are now warning people to be extremely vigilant.

Beat Manager PC Corrina Wiltshire said: “I would like to take this opportunity to ask local people to make sure their homes are secure as possible, especially with the increase in temperature we are having currently, please don’t leave your windows open.

“These people are out there and have no concern about the risk of being seen.”
