STAND-up and fierce left-winger Mark Steel never felt the need to seek out his birth mother - until he had a child of his own.
In his hilarious new show, Who Do I Think I am?, he recounts his surprising and harrowing search for his mother, who refused to meet him in the end, uncovering his lineage and discovering he is the offspring of a multi-millionaire World Backgammon Champion.
Mark has presented the BAFTA-nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC2 and is a regular on BBC One’s Have I Got News For You and Radio 4’s Newsquiz. He’s also appeared on BBC2’s QI and Room 101 and written several, acclaimed books, including Reasons To Be Cheerful and What’s Going On. He won Columnist of the Year at the Press Awards in 2015 for his weekly column in The Independent.
Mark Steel will be at the Arts Centre on Tuesday, May 17, at 8pm. Tickets are £16. To book go to swindontheatres.co.uk or call 01793 524481.
