A Swindon brain injury charity is planning to host a live music fundraiser as part of national Action for Brain Injury Week (9-14 May).

Headway Swindon supports brain injury survivors, their families and carers across the region.

Scrumptious snacks will also be on offer, including ice-cream donated by Devizes-based Rowdey Cow and a hog-roast from Padfield Porkies.

Headway service user Mark Jennings, from Calne, praised the charity for the help and support they have given him

"Being part of Headway Swindon is like having a second family, everyone is so friendly,” he said.

“The charity has helped me so much with my recovery and events such as this fundraiser enables them to continue supporting others facing difficult uphill challenges after brain injury."

Staff and volunteers at Headway are hoping the event will attract scores of supporters.

"We promise the event will be a night to remember," said Catherine Brown, marketing and fundraising co-ordinator at the charity.

"The local community has so far been incredibly supportive and we are grateful to everyone who has donated prizes for this event.

"Brain injury can affect every area of a person's life, from their ability to walk and talk to think and feel, and ABI Week is a fantastic opportunity to generate funds and reach out to families whose lives have been devastated by the effects of brain injury.

"So whether you have a personal reason for supporting the fundraiser or simply want to enjoy some live music, we invite you to get in touch, have some fun, and help to support families affected by brain injury in the process."

National Action for Brain Injury Week runs from May 9 to 14. Tickets for the event are £20, to buy call Catherine Brown on 07825 884993 or e-mail catherine@headwayswindon.org.uk.
