A pensioner is planning an African adventure after winning £25,000 with People’s Postcode Lottery.

Anthony Nixon, 73, won the Saturday Street Prize on May 21, with his lucky postcode SN4 0NT.

The retired printer said: “I made my mind up as soon as I saw the cheque that I was going to go on holiday. I’m going to visit Morocco later this year. I’ve never been there before but it seems very nice. I’d also like to travel to Antigua.

“I’ll be very careful how I spend the money. It's a wonderful thing. I’ve never won anything really except a raffle many years ago when I won a bra, which is ridiculous!

“This is my third win with my postcode in six months. I’ve had a £10 win and a £20 win so I thought maybe my luck was changing. I was keeping my fingers crossed for a bigger win and it was quite a happy shock when I won £25,000.”

People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador Danyl Johnson presented the £25,000 cheque to Anthony on his doorstep.

Danyl added: “It was my pleasure to hand over the cheque to Anthony. He was genuinely thrilled to win. All our players, like Anthony, should be proud that they are making a huge difference to charities all around the country by playing People’s Postcode Lottery.”

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £118.8 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

Local projects that have received funding from players include Swindon Wildcats in the Community, which received £1,825 this year, and The Open Door (Swindon & District) Ltd that was awarded £2,339 in 2016.
