A MAN has been given a suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to two assaults and breaching a restraining order.

Lewis Page, 24, of Byrewell Barn, Bourton, assaulted his former girlfriend and mother of his one-year-old twins in February and May of this year.

The assault also resulted in Page breaching his restraining order, which had been in force since October 2014.

In a statement to the court his victim said: “Lewis has been in my life for three years now and I’ve had nothing but grief from him.

“All I want is for him to leave me alone. I just want my life to be normal. Lewis brings nothing but pain and misery to my life.”

Page’s solicitor, Philip Hall, said the relationship between the defendant and the victim was one of “festering discontent”.

Magistrates gave Page a 24-month suspended sentence and ordered him to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

He was also told to attend a ‘Building Better Relationships’ programme, which helps men to “learn more about the sorts of behaviour that damage relationships”.
