DOGS and ducks will be the stars of the show on Bank Holiday Monday as the Westcott Recreation Ground goes animal mad.

The park, opposite the Runner Pub on Wootton Bassett Road, will be hosting a ‘fun dog show’ from 11am with fun for all the family.

As well as a dog agility show, onlookers will be able to marvel at six different competition classes running half hourly from 11 through until 2.30pm.

Up for grabs will be the title of dog with the waggiest tail, most handsome pooch, best rescue dog and prettiest bitch.

Then Purton Vets, who are sponsoring the event along with Lucy Pet Carer, will choose their favourite for a special one off prize.

Finishing off the competition will be the categories for best junior handler, dog that looks most like its owner and finally the best of the best.

All proceeds from the show will got to the Blue Cross pet charity.

From 3.30pm, the dogs will give way to ducks as the Rotary Club of Swindon and Old Town host their annual duck race.

Members of the public will be able to pick their duck and head to the starting line to watch it float its way down the water, hopefully to victory.

There are fantastic prizes to be won and any money raised in the process will go to local Rotary supported charities.

Organisers hope for a big turnout, they say you’d be ‘quackers’ to miss it.
