SHOPPERS at the Orbital looking for a sit-down meal with table service now have a new place to go with the re-opening of the new-look McDonald’s restaurant.

Having be closed for several weeks, the site has undergone a digital revolution, meaning customers now do not need to go to the counter to gain the orders.

The Orbital branch is the latest McDonald’s in Swindon to undergo the change, which has seen the creation of 20 new jobs.

“If the initial reaction from customers has been anything to go by then I might need to take on even more,” said Carl Room, the franchisee of all the Swindon outlets.

“I am really pleased it’s all finished. The contractors have done a great job and everything looks fantastic.

“The table service is another step forward for McDonald’s. It gives more options for our customers.”

Instead of going straight to the counter, customers now have the option to select what they want using a touch screen and can then sit down before their food is brought over.

On Friday, North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson officially opened the outlet and praised the changes which had been made.

He said: “It is a really impressive extension which has created a further 20 jobs and will be well used by local residents.

“It is always a pleasure to support Carl, who has done a lot for Swindon.”

The completion of the refurbishment coincided with work to transform the Orbital car park coming to an end.
