GET your wellies out and pack your waterproofs –you’re likely to be dancing in the rain at Westonbirt’s Forest Live.

With weather warnings in place and the threat of downpours hanging over the weekend, it is unlikely to be the balmy, sun-drenched music bonanza revellers were hoping for.

Rain aside, it will also be a biting few days with strong winds and unseasonal highs of just 17C.

Thankfully the star-studded line-up should keep wrapped-up festivalgoers in high spirits despite pesky showers with Rudimental, Kaiser Chiefs, UB40 and Tom Jones set to take to the arboretum stage.

Dance collective Rudimental will kick off the festivities this evening and get fans into the party mood with a heady set of their biggest electro hits. The Hackney four-piece boasts high-profile collaborations with the likes of John Newman, Ella Eyre and newcomer Anne-Marie.

Also making their debut at Westonbirt, Kaiser Chiefs and frontman Ricky Wilson will rock up the venue with their trademark indie sound tomorrow.

“As a band we’ve always loved to play outdoors, we’ve done fields, parks, farms, rooftops, beaches and back gardens, but this will be the first time we’ve played in a forest,” said Ricky, who moonlights as a judge on The Voice. “If you go down to the woods, you’re sure of a big surprise. We’re really looking forward to being part of Forest Live.”

I predict a Riot, Ruby and Every day I Love You Less and Less will form part of the band’s packed set list.

Saturday will see UB40's founding members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue make a triumphant return to the arboretum. With such genre-defining tunes as Red Red Wine, Kingston Town and Falling In Love With You, the gig promises to be one of the highlights of the festival weekend.

Living legend Sir Tom Jones will bring Forest Live to a close with a banging finale on Sunday.

“What a lovely experience this is going to be,” said the Welsh performer, whose most memorable anthems include It’s Not Unusual, Kiss and Delilah. “I respect and admire the whole idea of Forest Live and hope you can join me to be a part of it.”

There are no sheltered areas at Westonbirt and umbrellas are not allowed. Folding chairs and rugs are permitted in the arena however as seating is not provided. But cans, glass, non-plastic crockery and cutlery are forbidden. Festivalgoers can park in the main parking area for free but spaces cannot be reserved in advance. Disabled parking is available closer to the stage.

All shows are sold out except UB40. Tickets are £38.50. To book call 03000 680400 or visit forestry.gov.uk/music.
