THE Old Town Festival will be rounded off this weekend with a spectacular concert in The Bowl.

Comperes Josie Williams and Shirley Ludford will kick off the afternoon and evening of live music from noon today.

“There are some cracking bands on the Bowl this Saturday starting from 12pm,” said Jennifer Stevenson who booked each of the bands for their performances. “All the bands are playing for free and I would like to thank them for giving their time to support the festival.

Kicking things off from noon will be Swindon-based four-piece band Interlight who are hoping to deliver a real wow factor with their opening numbers.

They will be followed at 1pm by upbeat indie/pop/punk band Get Cart who have been on the scene since 2007. Citing their influences as Green Day, The Killers, the Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and Thin Lizzy they will be aiming to get the crowd on their feet.

At 2pm Locarno Beat will hit the stage with their repertoire of 60s hits, including popular numbers from Chuck Berry, The Zombies, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Brit Pop Boys will follow them at 3pm with chart toppers from the likes of Shed 7, Stereophonics and Cast, while the Martyrials will hit the stage at 4pm.

Described as producing a "undeniably explosive blend of all killer, no filler Rock and Roll” where “punk ethics meet synthesized psychedelia for a whiskey with psychobilly blues," the three-piece which was formed in 2015 will be aiming to hit a high note.

Devizes-based singer/songwriter Mike Barham will hit the stage at 5pm with his brazen honesty, gentle humility and acid wit. His performances have earned him the high-praise from Southampton's Jurassic Mark as a "One-man Foo Fighters".

Hip-Hop reggae collective The Tribe will bring their blend of hip hop, drum grooves and smooth bass to the stage from 6pm, before The Roadhouse Roosters take over from 7pm.

Talk in Code will take festival-goers into the evening from 8pm with their "stadum-ready" pop rock original material, before explosive four-piece covers band Zing close the festival with their hour-long performance from 9pm.

Expect powerful vocals, dynamic lead guitar breaks and solid drums throughout their performances of songs from The Beatles, Blink 182 and Stevie Wonder.

“The Bowl is a free concert, but there will be bucket collections for this year’s chosen charity TWIGS (Therapeutic Gardening In Swindon), so please do give generously. There will be hot food and a very reasonably priced licensed bar and workshops for the children delivered by the local Guides,” said Josie Williams, festival chair.

The Old Town Festival is supported by The Commonweal School Performing Arts Academy, Swindon Advertiser, Swindon Borough Copuncil, Swindon 105.5 Community Radio, Screaming Media and Anything Swindon.
