THE uptempo beat of swing music sang out from the bandstand in the Town Gardens on Sunday.

Erica and Cliff Fowers - who danced down the aisle in 2011 - put on an afternoon of dance and encouraged their audience to join in.

The event allowed people to get up and dance with the couple as a range of dance styles were shown.

The couple danced a variety of swing dance styles including Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Charleston and love to dance 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s swings music.

The event ran from 2 till 4.30pm and was a busy afternoon for the cafe.

Organiser of the event Josie Williams, community arts development officer at Commonweal School said: “I was very pleased with the turnout and it was fab to see so many people enjoying themselves. The bandstand was alive with the sound of swing and happy people dancing and enjoying a picnic with friends and family. Big thank you to Erica and Cliff for making it such a fun afternoon."

Erica and Cliff have been together for around seven years and share their passion for dance together, they have developed their own style which is often commented on with a smile.

Erica said: “The day was brilliant. Everyone joined in and the weather stayed dry making it a real family day on Father’s day.

“The smiles and laughter were welcomed as families has picnics on the grass. The atmosphere was great and we hope to be able to work with Josie to put on another similar event similar."

The couple will next appear at WrdeUp Festival in Highworth and Lydiard Park Auto and Retro Festival next month.
