A BMW driver crashed into a hedge after refusing to stop for police.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at around 2.40pm when police officers attempted to carry out a routine traffic stop on a vehicle in Groundwell Road.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "The driver of the vehicle, a green BMW, failed to stop and drove off. It was followed by a police vehicle.
"A few minutes later the BMW crashed into a hedge in Ringwood Close and the driver left the vehicle and ran off.
"Officers followed on foot and shortly after located a man in a garage in Arlington Close."
A 20-year-old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to stop when requested by a police officer, theft of a motor vehicle and using a vehicle without insurance.
He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
