A DRUNK and aggressive teenager could have caused a serious accident when she kicked an police officer in the neck while he was driving, a court has heard.

Victoria Little of Whitworth Road, Haydon Wick, also shouted abusive words to PC James Rodrigues such as “Oh look it’s the F***ing pigs” when he arrived to arrest her in Oldlands Walk.

The 19-year-old came before magistrates in Swindon where she pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and for assaulting the constable on Saturday, June 4.

The hearing was told by Pauline Lambert, prosecuting, how PC Rodrigues was tasked to attend a report of Little being disorderly before the assault unfolded.

“Her boyfriend said she was heavily intoxicated and was trying to get inside the house to harm herself,” Ms Lambert said.

The court also heard how Little was then arrested but while in the back of the police car she started banging her head on the window, before kicking the officer in the neck causing a ‘sharp pain’.

Ms Lambert added: “He felt something hit him with quite a lot of force. That forced him to let go of the steering wheel and he momentarily lost control of the car. He said her actions were dangerous and put other road users at risk.”

Ms Lambert also said Little had been in court a couple of months ago for assaulting a police officer and for battery. As a result she was handed a community order, which included rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Emma Handslip, defending, told the magistrates her client was engaging with the previous community order and looking into an anger management, but was not alcohol dependant.

She said: “She was residing with her partner’s mother and something went on inside. She has contacted a police officer asking to arrest her so she didn’t harm herself.

“The police officer gained control of the vehicle and there was no accident and no lasting injuries.”

A probation officer said that Little was about to start voluntary work with the charity Restore and they had been “pleasantly surprised” at the progress she had made, but were disappointed with the new offence.

Chairman of the bench June May said: “Miss Little you are someone well known to the justice system. We have heard you are engaging with probation which is a good thing to hear.

“We are going to send you to prison for six weeks but are suspending this sentence on the basis you have no convictions in the next 12 months and comply with the requirements for the next year and attend 20 RAR days.

“If you break any of the requirements or are convicted of any offence expect to serve this prison sentence.”

Little was also ordered to pay £80 compensation to the police officer. They said she did not have to pay any other costs as she has limited means.
