THE streets of Wroughton will welcome back a carnival atmosphere this weekend after a new team of volunteers stepped forward to relaunch the carnival.

In a bid to deliver the very best of local talent the much-loved village event will return on Saturday after local residents formed a new committee and secured the support of the parish council and the local community.

The event will begin at 1pm with the procession through the village centre. This will be followed by a packed programme of entertainment on the Weir Field recreation ground that will include displays of local talent, traditional carnival games and stalls. This will be followed by entertainment in the village pubs at night.

Committee Chair Zoe Spurgeon said: "We are delighted to bring back the Carnival for 2016 and we are working hard to continue to find sponsors so we can ensure that we have an amazing day. Our website is at www.wroughtoncarnival.com and we would like to invite local pubs, businesses, schools and groups of residents to enter decorated floats in the carnival procession. Chris Manning, who is in charge of the procession, is available to give help and advice on how to enter a float or walking group."

If you would like to enter the procession, book a stall or contribute to the funding of Wroughton Carnival visit the website, their Facebook page or email wroughtoncarnival2016@gamil.com.
