A 13-year-old reported missing kicked two police officers on their knees because they were ‘trying to return him somewhere he didn’t want to go,’ a youth court in Swindon has heard.

The youngster, whose identity is protected through reporting restrictions, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a constable while on duty in Walcot on June 12.

Nick Barr, prosecuting, told the court the young lad had been reported missing and the officers were attempting to take him to another location. But there was a struggle and he started shouting and swearing, despite them trying to calm him down.

Emma Handslip, defending, said the boy has issues with being touched and that is why he lashed out.

When asked by the magistrates why he kicked the officers, he said: “She shouldn’t have grabbed me.”

He was given a referral order for six months to be in contact with the Youth Offending Team and must pay a victim surcharge of £20.
