A TEAM of six took part in the annual London to Brighton 54-mile bike ride on Sunday in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

The team who so far have raised £2,000 from the event are all members of the Westcott Place Working Men's Club and was made up of two women and four men all between the ages of 40 and 60.

The women were inspired to saddle up again having previously taken part in a night ride for charity.

Michael Aynsley, 54, who lost four stone with Swindon Town football fans slimming group is keen to maintain his weight loss by taking on challenges and has already completed two 10k runs.

“It was much more fun than we all thought it would be, training was difficult and long but the atmosphere among all the cyclists made it an enjoyable ride.

“It went really well, we are all really happy," he said.

The team completed the ride in about seven and a half hours.

Michael said: “It was challenging through London with some of the roads having lots of traffic and buses but we successfully managed it.”

The annual London to Brighton bike ride is now in its 41st year and on Sunday attracted 15,000 riders.

Swindon Interiors sponsored the Westcott team providing them with jerseys and transport with their bikes.
