POLICE are investigating after a neo-nazi group's sticker was placed on a town centre lamppost.

The racist sticker, which had the words White Zone and the name of far-right group National Action on it was found on a lamppost outside Vision Express today. It has since been removed.

Wiltshire Police are now investigating the incident as a potential hate crime and are appealing for information.

PC Paul Bezzant, community beat manager for the area, said: “The discovery of this sticker is disturbing and investigations are already underway to determine who put it there.

“We are working with our partners in the town, including Swindon Town Council, to see if there is any CCTV that could help with our enquiries.

“We will be doing everything possible to identify the person/s responsible and to make sure they do not continue to place offensive material on the streets of Swindon.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Bezzant on 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
