UPDATE: Tony has been found

A DOG owner is appealing for help after a much loved St Bernard went missing in the Stratton Wood area of Swindon this afternoon.

Ian Daly was walking the dog, called Tony, at around 1430 on Friday afternoon when he suddenly disappeared, prompting fears he may have been stolen.

Ian, who is a dog trainer by profession, said Tony was last seen about 200 yards from the Stratton Wood car park.

He turned to get his other dogs but when he looked back he couldn't see Tony - assuming he had gone back to the van, Ian went to look but Tony was nowhere to be seen.

He is three and a half years old, liver and white in colour, 35 inches tall and 102kg in weight.

Tony is described as exceptionally friendly and his owners say running away is very much out of character.

A relative of the family said: "As you can imagine we are all beside ourselves and heart broken.

"If any of you have dogs in your lives then you will know that they are a massive part of the family - to have a family member missing is just heartbreaking."

Tony is microchipped and if taken to a vet they should be able to identify the owners quickly.

If anyone finds Tony, or has any information about his disappearance, they are asked to phone either 07583298526 or 07859024052.
