WHEN a member of the public spotted Samuel Woolford “loitering” in a car park at 2.30am they called the police who found him in possession of class B drugs.

Woolford, 20, of Birch Street, pleaded guilty to possession charges of 0.5grams of cannabis and 40.9 grams of cocaine on May 6 when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Pauline Lambert told the magistrates that police had attended and found the half gram of cannabis on him.

They then searched his home and found a bag containing 40.9grams of cocaine in his bedroom.

“He says he has a heavy cocaine habit and this was for his personal use, as was the cannabis,” said Ms Lambert, who said he used around seven grams of the substance a day at weekends.

“He buys in bulk bags because it is cheaper, and has had a cocaine habit for around three months.”

After hearing that he was funding his habit by working as a bricklayer the magistrates imposed a 12-month community order during which he must complete 24 hours at an attendance centre.

Chairman of the bench Simon Wolfensohn told him: “We have concerns about you mixing with the wrong sort of people at the attendance centre; if you feel you are unable to resist the temptation of drugs you should speak to your officer and they must bring this back to court. We hope that it will be helpful.”

He must also pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £85.
