IT'S not quite a 500 mile walk but fans of The Proclaimers can catch them at the Village Pump Folk Festival, which takes place at the White Horse Country Park in Westbury from July 22-24.

The festival, which was described as ‘virtually flawless from start to finish’ by a festival review website last year, features a diverse line-up with acts to interest music fans of varying tastes.

The Proclaimers, returning after their successful appearance in 2013 will be topping the bill and will be joined by Neville Staple (formerly of The Specials), Ferocious Dog, The Phil Beer Band and many more.

Organiser Clive Woodland said: “We've again managed to get some of the best acts in folk, roots and acoustic music from all over the UK and beyond. All our performance areas are under cover and there is a covered space where people can gather to eat their food.

“The site is flat and well-drained so we don't have the kind of problems we've seen at Glastonbury this year.

"Many of our acts have won, or been nominated for, Radio 2 Folk Awards and, for something a bit different, this year we have two top BBC Radio and TV presenters. Mark Radcliffe, well known for the Folk Show and other Radio 2 and 6 Music shows will be here with his band Galleon Blast.

“Andy Kershaw, currently a reporter on The One Show, has done more than anyone else to make World Music popular through his radio shows and he's going to be bringing his World Music Disco.

"From early Friday evening to last thing Sunday night your weekend ticket enables you to see our great range of performers for around 30 plus hours across three stages. You can buy a ticket for the whole weekend, just one day or an evening.”
