BEER drinkers are in for a treat as the Stratton St Margaret Parish Council has announced that Arkell’s Stratton Festival Ale will be available in pubs across Stratton St Margaret from next week.

The ale is only available for a very limited time throughout July to mark the Stratton Festival, which takes place on Saturday July 16 and Sunday 17, and the Stratton Stroll on July 23.

For the past four years Arkell’s Brewery has worked with the parish council by agreeing to brew the special Stratton Festival Ale, which will be on sale at pubs and bars throughout both events.

Alex Arkell, head brewer at Arkell’s Brewery, said: “We love supporting really local events such as the Stratton Festival, and it’s especially welcome when it’s the community where Arkell’s Brewery actually brews our beer.

“We hope that everyone will enjoy our special Stratton brew. It’s certainly not far for anyone to stroll if they want another pint.”

All proceeds from the Stratton Festival will go to local children’s cancer and leukemia charity CALM.

Last year the parish council raised more than £2,000 for Prospect Hospice and they hope to beat that amount this time round.

With such popular activities as a dog show, a good old fashioned tug of war and bubble football it is certainly not to be missed.

The parish council works closely with local pubs across the parish to bring the community together for the Stratton Stroll music festival, which will take place on July 23.

The music festival kicks off from midday at The Kingsdown and finishes at The Rat Trap from 7pm until late.

Tracy Predeth, clerk to the council, said: “The parish council is committed to working in partnership with local businesses.

“All public bodies have a role to play in supporting economic growth. There are some fantastic shops and businesses around the Parish and we strive to work together to harness local knowledge.”
