A MYSTERY moggy has taken up residence in the staff room at Shaw Veterinary Centre.

The black cat was found as a stray on Monday last week.

“A member of the public found him,” said vet nurse Anita Pile. “He was just very quiet, very subdued. He didn’t eat and he wouldn’t drink.”

“He was brought in to us and discovered to have a very high temperature.”

Although the vets could not find a reason for his temperature they managed to treat him and gradually his condition improved.

“As the week has gone on he has got brighter and brighter,” said Anita.

Now the surgery is keen to reunite him with his owner. If they can’t locate his family they will have to find a new home for him or he will have to be handed over to a rescue centre.

She explained if he had clearly been a stray, the cat would have gone to a rescue centre after his treatment.

But he was too big and seemed quite used to people.

“We are convinced he must have an owner. He is quite chubby and you don’t get that way living on the street,” she said.

In the meantime he has made himself comfortable in the staff room where he gets visits and occasional cuddles from the vets, nurses and receptionists.

“He’s very friendly,” said Anita.

Staff think he is probably aged between six and eight years old and he has been neutered.
