LITTLE Daniel Fagan, who died from Leukaemia earlier this year, will be at the forefront of everyone’s minds as they take to the pitch for a charity football game.

Today, (Saturday) players will be travelling from as far as the USA to net some goals and remember the five-year-old, who attended Trees Nursery in Old Town.

There is also another special reason behind the game, as it will be the first time in 24 years that the junior Rodbourne Mannington team will come together and play again. Phil, Daniel’s dad, was one of the players.

The teams are hoping as many people as possible gather to support the event from 3pm at PlayFootball in Kembrey Park.

They will also be raising money for the Swindon-based charity Calm, which has supported Daniel’s parents Emma and Phil Rollings, both 39, as well as their other son Dexter, two, and they are keen to give something back.

Lee Kilby is also taking part. He said: “The match obviously has special significance for us and we have players travelling in from as far as the USA to remember the very special Daniel Fagan.

“24 years ago the Swindon Advertiser ran a story about Rodbourne Mannington. We were a very successful youth team from Swindon and we won many leagues, tournaments and cups across Swindon and Wiltshire in the 90s.

“We are all playing and raising money for the Swindon based CALM charity who provided such wonderful care and help to Daniel and his family.”
