AFTER a row with his partner a man took his anger out on the wing mirror of her car.

Christopher Newbold, 21, of Ramsbury Avenue appeared before magistrates sitting in Swindon on Friday where he pleaded guilty to the charge of criminal damage dating from June 27 and of missing his day in court on July 20 to answer the charge.

The court heard from crown prosecutor James Burnham that Newbold had had a row with his partner and broken the wing mirror of her T-reg car, causing damage of £33.

His defence Tony Nowogrodzki said that the letter telling him to go to court had gone to his parents address and he hadn’t realised it had been so soon, which saw him arrested at 6pm on Thursday night and spend the night in the cells.

Sentencing him, chairman of the bench Gray Gilbert said: “It was a good thing it was the mirror that got it not the lady. You have got to learn to control your temper.”

He imposed a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered he pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 along with a £20 victim surcharge. He also put in place an order that Newbold must pay the victim £33 compensation, as despite him saying he had already done so, the Crown prosecution Service was unable to confirm whether this had actually taken place.
