SEVERAL young people were assaulted and one was taken to hospital with a broken cheekbone in an altercation at a beauty spot near Faringdon.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses in the wake of the incident at Buscot Park on July 19 when some victims also suffered racial abuse.

Investigating Officer, PC John Cleverly of Local CID, based at Abingdon police station, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following this assault and racial abuse on a number of victims.

“We would like anyone who was at Buscot Weir and saw this incident to come forward.

“We would be particularly keen on hearing from anyone who may have video or audio footage of this incident which could help us with our investigation.”

The incident happened at 4.30pm.

“The Buscot Weir is a popular location and is on the border with Swindon and Gloucestershire so it’s possible that there may be witnesses from this area so we would like them to get in touch as well,” said PC Cleverly.

Anyone with information should call 101 asking for Thames Valley Police.
