THE Rotary Club of Royal Wootton Bassett & District is appealing for help after seven of its roadside signs mysteriously vanished last week.

The signs, which were promoting the Rotary's car boot sale at Lower Hook Farm disappeared between Wednesday, July 20 and Saturday,July 23.

Rotary club member Mark Mudd, 55, first noticed the signs had gone missing.

“One or two going missing you can probably explain but not seven out of 14. It is very irritating and annoying this has happened, I’m not sure why anyone would choose to take them but we desperately need them back for future events,” said Mark, who lives in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Six of the sheet metal signs measured 460mm x 610mm and have a single white painted steel post.

The seventh sign is similar and slightly larger with two wooden posts at the sides. They are emblazoned with the Rotary Club’s logo.

The signs were taken from outside the new football ground at Ballard’s Ash on the B4042, Lydiard crossroads on the Royal Wootton Bassett to Purton Road B4041, Woodshaw roundabout near the Interface business park, Stoneover Lane and outside Vastern Saw Mills on the A3102,

If the signs fail to show up, Rotary may have to dip into its own funds to replace them.

The club members are stumped as to the whereabouts of the seven signs.

“We have no idea why anybody would take them or if they have been stolen but we really need them back,” said Mark.

“Making the signs is considerably costly to us at around £40 each and we would very much like to recover them.

“We are a charity and and we need them for our next car boot on September 4 with all proceeds going to charity

"If the people who took them drop the signs at Lower Hook Farm then no questions will be asked."
