Street entertainer, Rob Stredder, will be back on his bike this weekend as Les Bicyclettes pedal into a family fun day.

One of Swindon's most colourful characters, Rob, and partner Jackie Bardwell will be creating some mind blowing acrobatics at Stanton Park's Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 6 at Stanton Fitzwarren.

There will also be a workshop where children can learn comedy and circus skills from Rob and Jackie.

Rob wasn't destined for a street performer, his father wished him to study law, but during his time at Birmingham University he joined the carnival committee and had his first taste of theatre. The entertainment bug bit deep so Rob followed his dreams.

He came to Swindon and joined the Groundwell Farm project which was a centre for the arts, and since then he pops up at various events as Robbo the clown, a Marcel Marceau-like mime artist, a juggler, acrobat, comedy cyclist and even a flame thrower.

Jackie is a gymnast and former Ballet Rambert dance student and together they formed Les Bicyclettes.

On Saturday, about noon, they will perform a comedy sketch called Billy and Betty go to the Seaside. the performance will be a warm up for their appearance at Fairport's Cropredy Convention this year which runs from Thursday August 11 to Saturday 13.

On Saturday at Stanton Park there will also be a sideshow of facepainting, children's games and crafts such as dream catchers. The Bluegate Poets will be hosting a poetry workshop for children where they can write a poem from nature, inspired by Stanton Park.

The cafe tea shop will be open for refreshments from 10am to 4pm and the grounds are open to anyone wanting to bring along a picnic lunch.

The family fun day is free entry. For more details about Les Bicyclettes call 01793 725206.
