SWINDON Town Centre will be roaring with excitement later this month when a baby tyrannosaurus rex, named Pete, comes to The Brunel shopping centre to entertain children and parents during the school holidays.

Pete is an animatronic dinosaur and will be at The Brunel’s Dinosaurium on Wednesday and Thursday, August 24 and 25.

As well as meeting Pete children will be able to take part in free dinosaur fun such as digging in the sand for fossils and dinosaur related craft sessions.

The Dinosaurium will be in The Brunel Arcade near to the That’s Entertainment and Sue Ryder shops.

Jane Stewart, deputy centre manager, said she expects Pete to be very popular.

“When I heard that we were able to have a baby T-rex visit the centre I knew he would be perfect for entertaining children during the long school holidays," she said.

"I recently met Pete and was taken aback at how lifelike he is. I want to reassure parents that he is perfectly safe…and very well fed!

"Although still only a baby tyrannosaurus rex, Pete stands around five feet tall – so those of a nervous disposition may want to keep their distance and their hands in their pockets.”

Pete will be appearing at various intervals between 10am and 4pm each day. There is no charge to see Pete, or to take part in any of the activities.
